Salmon Come Back, Salmon Come Back

October 18, 224

The day started with rain, which inspired us to gather under the tarp and start a fire. Sung to life, the fire gave a wonderful center for the story told.  A wise one was sought....who ended up being the wise one?  Were they the oldest?

Salmon come back, Salmon come back....

How do the salmon find their way back?  Back to the rivers and streams of their birth.  Maybe they hear the calls songs of the children calling them home, singing of the rivers that feed into the Salish sea.  Maybe they feel the laughter and the glee as the children play the salmon game, mimicking the life of a salmon, and are thus informed.  What part did your child play in the game?  Can they name any of the rivers that flow into the Salish sea?  Can you?  Who are these rivers named after?

The later part of our day was informed by the urgings and desires the children.  Some had begun asking , before the day began, when they could continue on their projects of the week before.  And so they did.  some working on the lashing  structure,  some going back to the shelter in the woods by the coral,  some wandering and working more with nettle.  All collaborating, engaged, negotiating and learning.

It is a joy to be with your children. Thank you.
