On April 25th, VWP will be hosting our annual Spring Feast potluck gathering and "Bizarre Bazaar", a special tradition of trading nature-inspired and/or homemade items. The evening has always proved quite magical as families from our various programs gather in community to share a spring-inspired potluck meal and enjoy this poignant opportunity to let go and receive.
This event is open to all currently enrolled families and their guests.
Stay tuned for more details.
Join us for a free, family-friendly afternoon of storytelling in celebration of World Storytelling Day.
Once Upon a Place brings together storytellers from Vashon and beyond to share compelling stories rooted in land and its power to shape our experiences.
Featured storytellers include Michael Meade of the Mosaic Multicultural Foundation and David Turnipseed of the Puyallup Tribe’s Language Department, along with storytellers from the Vashon Heritage Museum, Vashon Wilderness Program (Jacqui & Stacey!) and others. They will share stories from different cultures and traditions that invite listeners of all ages to experience place as an essential part of every story.
Free s’mores! Weather permitting, we’ll have marshmallows ready for roasting over the campfire, with all the fixings for a gooey treat after the program.
Hosted by the Vashon–Maury Island Land Trust in partnership with the Vashon Wilderness Program and the Vashon Heritage Museum, this gathering celebrates the idea that places matter and are worth protecting and preserving.
We’ll make every effort to host the event outdoors by the campfire, so please dress for the weather and consider bringing a blanket or umbrella.

This is a community celebration of our connection to one another, honoring our myriad ancestral lineages. We invite families to bring a dish traditional to their heritage, or something that reminds them of their loved one, to share for our potluck.
We invite families to share ancestor stories (those passed & those considered living ancestors, human & more-than-human) around the fire.
We invite families to bring photos/objects for an altar. We create clay figures and release our creations into the forest, as a gift to the Ancestors of the land and waters of this place.

The Vashon Wilderness Program & Vashon Maury Island Land Trust are collaborating to plant saplings and invest in healthy habitats for our collective future.
When you purchase a sapling for $50, your young tree will be planted in the name of a child along a new trail in the beautiful Paradise Valley on Vashon Island. Our generous donors and VWP families will have an opportunity to come together to plant trees on October 24, 2021.
Over the years, you and the child can each come back to your tree -- together or separately -- to tend it's growth, get to know the creatures that make their home in and among them, cultivate a Sit Spot practice, and so much more. What a meaningful way to help a child fall in love with nature, and witness the growth of healthy a habitat for our next generation of Earth stewards.
We will contact all donors with details on how to join our Planting Party on October 24, 2021. Stay tuned!
