Fires & Gifts Fire Shares With Us
December 9th 2023
What a wild and wet day we had this time! And maybe especially because of the rain, the day was indeed an honoring and celebration of fire and the gifts fire shares with us. The colder temperatures and rain made us appreciate the gifts of fire even more than usual. It was so fun seeing the determination, resilience and teamwork fire making on a rainy day fostered in the students. There were new lessons about fire for everyone in the group, and the youth had the opportunity to build not just one, but FOUR fires today. What a way to practice fire making and deepen connection to fire.
Some folks enjoyed the warming drink offered today. The recipe is as follows:
1-2 Tablespoons powdered ginger
1 Tablespoon powdered cinnamon
1 Teaspoon cardamom
5-6 peppercorns (you could add 1/4 teaspoon of ground pepper instead)
Honey to taste
Add 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon powdered mix to 8 ounces of hot water and stir, then add honey to taste. You can also choose to mix the spice in with your favorite warmed milk if you'd like a creamier drink. Enjoy the warming and cozy feeling on a cold day. This blend is also great after dinner to help with digestion.
