Sunny Day Play with Wind Gatherers
December 1st 2023
The Wind Gatherers shared a sunny day back together after break.
We heard a story from one of our mentors about the time she lived among some of the oldest mountains in the world in Appalachia-where she learned to make a willow dome...a kind of shelter made from planted willow cuttings that grow until they can be woven into a shelter. She learned this from her mentor Julia and acknowledges that this is a craft that has roots among many different indigenous peoples.
Some of us played the salmon game, made leaf prints, and revisited shelters made weeks ago to tend them and enjoy their coziness.
